Most buddhist know about the famous monastery of Samye. Samye is the first built buddhist monastery in Tibet. This monastery was built by the great Indian master Padmasambhava and the learnt Pandita Shantarakshita, who were invited by the Tibetan King Trisong Deutsen; these three great beings were known as “Khen Lop Cho Sum”. Rinpoche has a very strong connection with this monastery.
There are four main, four stupas and eight side buildings around the main temple and they altogether are forming a mandala. All these buildings along with some others are built within a outer protection wall. The Retrat Center is also built within this outer wall.
The Retreat Center includes a praying hall, a room for Rinpoche or guest lamas, 25 rooms for the retreatants, toilets, kitchen, and storage rooms.
This retreat center has been built for RMB 700,000. A copper and gold statue of Padmasambhava (4 meter 20cm) has been erected. Rinpoche has spent a total of about RMB 1,400,000 for Samye Monastery. Now there are 17 monks doing a three year solitary retreat supported by 3 other monks and employees.
Rinpoche sponsors each practitioner US$45 per month, and there is a total of 20 monks.
Rinpoche is still looking for sponsors who would contribute to the living expenses of those monks during their retreat.
